Spring 2012 Week 9 Results

On Sunday, May 20th the Unlimited Team defeated Imperial FC 6-0.

In old guy news, until this week’s match-ups the Baltimore Spurs were in first place in both the over 30 and the Over 40 Leagues.  Unfortunately for them, the Bhoys in white and green hoops did the double on them, winning on both Tuesday and Thursday nights!

First, on Tuesday, May 22, the Baltimore Celtic Masters team defeated the Spurs 2-1.  Then, on Thursday, May 24th, the Old Bhoys (Baltimore Celtic’s Over 30 team) defeated Spurs again, this time 3-1 in a very testy encounter that saw each team receive a straight red in the final five minutes.

Inconsistent attendance has hampered the Over 40 team’s ability to achieve the same high level results as the Over 30 and unlimited teams, so, at this stage, it is unlikely (though mathematically still possible for the Masters to make the playoffs).  The Unlimited and Over 30 teams, however, are both sitting comfortably in second place in their respective leagues, so both are pretty much assured of play-off berths, with the Old Bhoys likley to face new rivals Spurs in a playoff rematch. #werunthis

Spring 2012 Week 7 Results

On Sunday May, 6 the Unlimited team drew with Bayern 2-2.  Goals by Mike Jeter and Eric McPhee.

On Tuesday, May 8, the Over 40 team, playing two men short due to bad attendance, lost 3-1.  It was 1-1 at the half so a hell of an effort by those who showed up.

On Thursday, May 10, the old bhoys over 30 team defeated Madballs despite their rough play by a score of 5-3.

Spring 2012 Week 6 Results

On Sunday, April 29th, the Unlimited team defeated Maryland Majors Division 1 side Portside FC 1-0 with the bhoys only goal coming from Mike Jeter.

On Tuesday, May 1, the Masters team, missing several players to injury and lead scorer Victor Sanchez to red card suspension, lost to the Bay Area Strikers.

On Thursday, May 3rd, the Over 30 team’s game was cancelled due to lighting.

Week 5 Results

On Sunday, April 22, the unlimited team won 3-0 getting their season back on track.

On Tuesday, April 24, the Masters (Over 40) team won 4-1.

On Thursday, April 26, the Old Bhoys (Over 30) team drew 3-3 in a hotly contested, chippy game that saw two straight reds (one for each team) late in second half.

The unlims are now 2-1-1, the Masters are 2-2-1 and the Old Bhoys are 2-2-1.

Week 4 Results

On Sunday, April 15th, the unlimited team suffered their first loss of the season.  The buoys are still having attendance problems, and only 11 players were on hand.  The lack of subs and some bad calls sealed the team’s fate on this day.  At any rate, team management is now clear that it needs to add more players before the fall season.

On Tuesday, April 17th, the over 40 Masters Team also suffered its first loss of the season, falling 5-1 to AC Pasadena.

The Old Bhoys, Baltimore Celtic’s Over 30 team, rescued the Club from a horrible week and secured a measure of revenge for the Over 40 team by dismantling AC Pasadena 5-3!  Down 2-1 at the half, the old bhoys took the field in the second half, starting spreading the field, moving the ball around, and within five minutes Victor Sanchez had banged home a goal (one of three for the night) off a cross from Justin Young.  The other two goals were by Nigel Fullerton and Mario Inacio.  The Old Bhoys are now 2-1-1 (the Unlims are 1-1-1 and the Masters are 1-2-1).

Week 3 Results

The unlimited team had week 3 off due to the Easter holiday weekend.

On April 10th, the new Masters Team (Over 40) registered their first win ever by defeating Annapolis United 6-4 in a hotly contested, physical and at times unsporting encounter.  The bhoys went down early a very dubious PK was awarded for a shirt tug on a corner kick.  Not worried, the bhoys battled back and went into the half up 3-1.  Annapolis came back and played an aggressive, physical game trying to pressure and drawing several yellows as a result.  Celtic stayed on their game, moved the ball around well, and banged home 3 more goals.  Annapolis got several more goal in this half, two off of corner where Celtic’s man marking completely fell apart (and ongoing problem with this team that we are in the process of addressing).  Still, the win was decisive and Annapolis complained bitterly after the match that not all of Celtic’s jerseys had numbers on them!  Team management dropped off the jerseys at a printer today, but we’re under no illusions that the complaining will stop!

On April 12th, the Old Bhoys tied PAX City 3-3 in the third Over 30 game of the season.  Celtic dominated possession, camped out in PAX’s half of the field for the entire second half but had major problems finishing, hitting the woodwork on multiple occasions.  Credit is also due to PAX’s keeper who had a hell of a game.  Celtic goals by Justin Young, Mike Reed and Rohan Weber.  Old Bhoys are now 1-1-1.
